Laser Skin Rejuvenation

Profractional Skin Resurfacing
What is Profractional?
The Profractional laser treats wrinkles, acne scars, sun spots and uneven pigmentation with minimal downtime. The procedure creates tiny channels in your skin to stimulate the production fo collagen and new healthy skin cells.
What results can you expect?
You will notice improvement in skin texture, pigmentation, and fine lines after the treatment. The improvement is a gradual process with optimal results being obtained within two to three months as it takes time to form new collagen.
What is the procedure like?
Most patients report a pricking sensation during treatment. A topical anesthetic is applied about 30 minutes prior to treatment to minimize the discomfort.
After the treatment, it is extremely important to avoid sun exposure for approximately 3 months. Sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher should be applied every 2 hours during sun exposure. Because your new skin is delicate, you will be given detailed home care instructions by Dr. Sohayda.
How many treatments are needed?
The number of treatments will vary depending on your skin condition. Most patients require 1 to 3 sessions which are scheduled in four week intervals.
Is there any downtime?
You will experience redness, swelling and some mild pinpoint bleeding after the treatment. Typically these side effects resolve in two to three days. In some cases, peeling may also occur.

Microlaser Peel
What is MicroLaser Peel?
The MicroLaser Peel is a great treatment to improve skin texture, color and tone with mimimal downtime. Frequently referred to as the “weekend peel”, this treatment will produce visible results within a few day. The result after one treatment is more dramatic than that obtained from a microdermabrasion or chemical peel. Microdermabrasion only removes the outer layer of skin, called the stratum corneum, (about 10-15 microns). The MicroLaser Peel goes deeper into the epidermis to about 20-50 microns.
What results can you expect?
You will have smoother more vibrant skin and less uneven skin pigmentation and texture.
What is the procedure like?
You will experience a warm sensation over your face during the treatment. If desired, a topical anesthetic can be applied prior to the treatment. Cool air is lightly blown across the skin during treatment to help minimize discomfort.
How many treatments are needed?
Your skin will be assessed by Dr. Sohayda and she will guide you on the number of treatments required to obtain good results. Sometime one treatment will be enough for 6 to 12 months but occasionally 3 or more are needed. After each treatment, you will discuss your results with Dr. Sohayda to see if your goals have been reached. Additional treatments can be done in about 3 to 4 weeks.
Is there any downtime?
It takes about 5 days for complete healing to occur. The first day you will experience warmth and redness, similar to a sunburn. By day two or three, the redness will subside and skin peeling and sloughing will occur. The peeling process will last about 3 to 4 days. Sun exposure should be minimized and sunscreen should be applied prior to being in the sunlight.
You will not need any dressings on your skin after treatment. Your doctor will provide you with detailed pretreatment and posttreatment instructions.
