Get the smooth skin appearance that you have always wanted with dermaplaning. This treatment removes the fine vellous facial hair, commonly known as peach fuzz, and gently exfoliates the skin.
What is dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a gentle, non-invasive form of manual exfoliation which leaves your skin silky smooth. It removes the outermost layer of the epidermis and the vellous hair, also known as peach fuzz, giving your skin a ”baby like” appearance.
How is dermaplaning performed?
The surface of the skin is exfoliated by gently gliding a sterile surgical blade over the area. After treatment, topical products are applied to enhance hydration. Because the skin is well exfoliated, the penetration of products is improved.
How frequently can I have this procedure done?
It is recommended to have this treatment done about every 4 weeks which coincides with a normal skin cycle.
Are there any risks?
Dermaplaning is very safe. Rarely a small area of pin point bleeding may occur.
Does the hair grow back thicker after treatment?
Dermaplaning does not result in thicker hair. There are two types of hair: vellous and terminal hair. Vellous hair, when removed, will grow back to the same size and shape. The coarse hair is called terminal hair and will remain coarse when it grows back. Dermaplaning will remove both vellous and terminal hair but will not change the hair texture or thickness.
What are the benefits of dermaplaning?
The benefits of dermaplaning include:
reduction of fine lines and wrinkles
reduction in the appearance of acne scars
smoother more even complexion
removal of vellous hair or “peach fuzz”
enhance penetration of skin care products after treatment
Dermaplaning can be used in place of chemical peels or microderms especially for those with extremely sensitive skin.
Are there any side effects of the treatment?
The skin may be slightly pink for a few days after treatment and light flaking is to be expected.
